Minister Zulkifli Hasan Encourages Students To Focus On Local Products

Monday, 05 Aug 2024

Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan is encouraging students as the younger generation to prioritize using products from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which are becoming increasingly competitive, as a way to show love for their country. The choice of young people to support local products is crucial for the development of MSMEs.

He shared this message during a campaign promoting pride in, buying, and defending domestic products at three schools in South Lampung: SMK Swadhipa 2 Natar, SMK Yadika Natar, and SMAN 1 Natar, on Friday (August 2). The event saw participation from around 2,600 students.

“It’s not just about being proud; you also need to buy. And then, promote MSME products. There are so many high-quality local creations from Indonesia,” emphasized Minister Zulkifli Hasan.

He believes that by expanding students' knowledge about the potential of Indonesian MSMEs and how their choices impact the national economy, their love for domestic products will grow stronger. When young people use and introduce local products to the community, it can help reduce the circulation of illegal imported goods.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade, along with other related ministries and agencies, has established a Task Force for Monitoring Illegal Imported Goods. This initiative aims to strengthen oversight and protect local products from the influx of illegal imports.

“The Task Force for Monitoring Illegal Imported Goods is the government’s effort to safeguard Indonesian MSMEs. This aligns with our spirit to advance the creations of our nation’s youth,” explained Minister Zulkifli Hasan.

At the end of the event, he urged students to be determined in achieving their dreams and to make wise decisions for a better future, including contributing to the advancement of Indonesia. Every struggle comes with risks and challenges, but giving up should never be an option.
