The Indonesian food and beverage (mamin) products successfully captivated visitors at the Summer Fancy Food Show (SFFS) 2024 held at the Javits Center in New York, USA on June 23-25, 2024. Over the three days of the exhibition, the Indonesian Pavilion recorded potential transactions amounting to USD 44.45 million or around Rp733.4 billion. This year, the Indonesian Pavilion with the theme "Trade with Remarkable Indonesia" was officially opened by the Consul General (Konjen) of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, WinantoHadi, the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in New York, Wahyu Agung Nugroho, and the Trade Attaché in Washington D.C., RanityaKusumadewi, on June 23, 2024. "Indonesia's participation in the SFFS 2024 exhibition must be maximized to strengthen Indonesia's branding as a producer of quality mamin, build business networks with key players in the US mamin industry, and promote Indonesian mamin products to increase exports to the US and other international markets with great potential," said Consul General Winanto.Trade Attaché in Washington D.C., RanityaKusumadewi, stated that the potential transactions of USD 44.45 million or around Rp733.4 billion at the SFFS 2024 exhibition show the significant potential of Indonesian mamin products in the US market."In addition, many visitors showed appreciation for various unique and high-quality Indonesian products, and exhibitors successfully built good connections with various key players in the US mamin industry," added Ranitya. The Indonesian Pavilion was located in the international pavilion area and showcased products from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). There were five companies featured in the Indonesian Pavilion, including Indofood (Indomie), Mayora (Kopiko, Danisa, and Coffee Joy), Java Criollo (single-origin Indonesian cocoa powder), Jika Chocolat (single-origin Indonesian chocolate), and Exotique Foods (fruit chips, smoothie powders, and tempeh chips).Furthermore, there are also seven MSME actors fostered by Bank Indonesia, namely Panda Food (seaweed snacks), Alam Scientia Asia (black garlic and moringa powder), CenterindoKurniaTritama (herbal drink wedanguwuh and herbal candy), Rafins (fish skin chips), Bana Bee (banana chips), Sehat Herbs (herbal drink powder), and YoRandang (rendang seasoning).Being on the same floor with innovative products, including pioneer business pavilions (startups), we observe that the innovation that Indonesia can do is not only from the type of product, but also from the processing and packaging sides," explained Ranitya. According to Ranitya, the US snack market is very competitive. Therefore, Indonesian snack products need to pay attention to the developing trends and continue to innovate. In addition, Indonesian products need to consider aspects of safety standards, transparency, and traceability of products consumed by the US public."A number of trends in the US snack industry observed during the exhibition include products that emphasize comfort, community, curiosity, and products with a premium touch; fusion cuisine that uses authentic ingredients and techniques from their origins; high-quality healthy food; and products with small portions/packaging as snacking trends increase," said Ranitya. Furthermore, Ranitya continued, with the increasing number of millennial and Gen Z consumers and the decreasing number of baby boomers, snack sales through e-commerce become the main driver of snack product sales in the US market.Meanwhile, the Head of Bank Indonesia Representative in New York, Wahyu Agung Nugroho, also assessed that Indonesia's participation in SFFS 2024 can provide broad exposure for Indonesian snack products in the US market. "The US market is the largest market in the world and is the center of trends and international snack consumption lifestyles. This exposure is crucial so that Indonesian snack products can become more recognized in the US market," said Wahyu.
