Despite the challenges faced by the textile and textile product (TPT) industry, we should not be pessimistic. The Ministry of Industry remains consistent in implementing strategic policies to develop the national TPT industry to be globally competitive. In the national industry roadmap and policies, the TPT industry is a priority sector for development due to its significant contribution to the Indonesian economy," said Minister of Industry AgusGumiwangKartasasmita in his statement on Thursday (4/7). In the first quarter of 2024, the TPT industry contributed 5.84 percent to the manufacturing sector's GDP and contributed USD11.6 billion to national exports with a surplus of USD3.2 billion. The TPT industry is also a labor-intensive sector, employing more than 3.98 million workers or contributing 19.47 percent to the total workforce in the manufacturing sector in 2023. As a labor-intensive sector, the TPT industry continues to require a large number of workers with the necessary skills. In this regard, the Ministry of Industry, through the unit under the supervision of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), namely the Jakarta Industrial Training Center (BDI), focuses on providing 3in1 training to meet the needs of the TPT industry. "We encourage this training to establish partnerships with the industry. For example, BDI Jakarta collaborates with PT Globalindo Intimates," said the Head of BPSDMI at the Ministry of Industry, Masrokhan, at the Closing of the Sewing Operator Training at PT Globalindo Intimates, Klaten, Central Java.Through this training, it is hoped that participants can become ready-to-use workers and capable of filling job opportunities in the textile and garment industry. This will have a positive impact on increasing productivity and competitiveness of the industry. PT Globalindo Intimates is a women's lingerie manufacturer that has penetrated the export market. Established since 2008, this company has a factory area of around 32,000 m2 with a total of 3,600 employees. In 2018, PT Globalindo Intimates began the digital transformation process as a strategic step to improve operations and production capacity by upgrading machines using 4.0-based technology. The company's transformation is going well, and in 2019 it was appointed by the Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Industry as a Lighthouse Industry project. The Ministry of Industry appreciates PT Globalindo Intimates for actively participating in the 3in1 Training program initiated by BDI Jakarta. In the 6th generation Sewing Operator Training, the company received 50 participants from the surrounding community of PT Globalindo Intimates. "This training is part of PT Globalindo's commitment to continuously improve the competence and professionalism of its employees. In this training, participants receive training on various aspects, such as sewing techniques, quality inspection of stitches, and work culture in the garment industry," said the Head of BDI Jakarta, Ali Khomaini. The Head of BPSDMI added that they invite all industry players to commit together in efforts to develop superior industrial human resources, in order to realize a more advanced, just, and prosperous Indonesia. "Welcoming the demographic bonus era, where the number of productive age population in Indonesia will increase, this training becomes even more important. This demographic bonus must be optimized properly, one of which is by preparing skilled and competent human resources," he explained.
