In an effort to boost national export performance, the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) together with PT AsuransiAsei Indonesia (ASEI) are strengthening the export ecosystem through the development of a Special Export Credit Insurance Cooperation for Small and Medium Enterprises (PKE UKM). Both Export Credit Agencies (ECA) in Indonesia are committed to providing comprehensive solutions not only in terms of financing through the PKE UKM program but also credit insurance for the financing. This initiative is designed to assist small and medium enterprises in overcoming challenges in increasing exports and competitiveness in the global market. The synergy between LPEI and ASEI aims to provide credit insurance protection for export-oriented SMEs in facing the risk of default by covering up to 70% of the total coverage. The signing of the strategic cooperation was held at the LPEI headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (28/6) by Berlianto Wibowo, Head of NIA Division, Trade Finance & Financing LPEI, and Ilham Mustafa, Head of Guarantee & Insurance Division LPEI, along with IrsyamFasya, Chief Technical Officer of AsuransiAsei, and Edi Apriansah, Head of Marketing Division of AsuransiAsei. The event was also attended by Maqin U. Norhadi, Executive Director of Business Development at LPEI, and the management team of AsuransiAsei, including RachmanNotowibowo, AchmadSudiyarDalimunthe, and AgusSulihPurwanto. Maqin U. Norhadi, Executive Director of Business Development at LPEI, explained, "The collaboration between LPEI and ASEI is expected to have a positive impact on SMEs and boost their confidence in developing products and providing better protection for Indonesian SMEs, thus driving national export growth and strengthening Indonesia's position in the global market." The President Director of ASEI, AchmadSudiyarDalimunthe, stated that the collaboration between AsuransiAsei and LPEI demonstrates the commitment of both institutions to support the improvement of the national export ecosystem. The support provided by these two institutions is expected to accelerate the pace of SME exports, which in turn will increase the contribution of SMEs to the national economy. As Indonesia's Export Credit Agency (ECA), AsuransiAsei has also established a good cooperative relationship with LPEI, both of which are members of the Berne Union International Association. It is hoped that this collaboration will bring sustainable business growth for both parties. This collaboration is a continuation of previous successful collaborations in providing co-insurance marine cargo facilities. It is also a tangible form of synergy between institutions under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia in enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian export products and ecosystems. The LPEI SME Export Program is a government assignment through Minister of Finance Decree (KMK) No.409/KMK.08/2021 aimed at supporting export-oriented SMEs. This program is concrete evidence of the government's presence in encouraging SMEs to become more globally competitive. As of June 27, 2024, LPEI has disbursed SME Export Program facilities amounting to Rp 1.052 billion for export markets in more than 65 countries. LPEI's support for export-oriented SMEs does not stop at the SME Export Program, as SMEs can also utilize other SME programs according to the profile/characteristics of their exports, including the Area Export Program (for non-traditional target markets) and the Trade Finance Program (with trade transaction schemes). In addition to this support, LPEI is also preparing a marketplace called Komodoin, specifically designed as a platform for export education, information services, incubation, capacity building, and as a meeting place for sellers and buyers (business matching).
