Ministry Of Industry Continuously Increases Employment Absorption In The Industrial Sector

Monday, 24 Jun 2024

The Ministry of Industry continues to strive to increase the number of graduates from its vocational education units to be absorbed into the industry. One of the efforts is through the organization of the Industrial Vocational Fair (IVF) 2024 in various regions of Indonesia, which brings together vocational education units from the Ministry of Industry with industry partners.

For the Sulawesi region, IVF 2024 is held in Makassar, involving five vocational education units from the Ministry of Industry, namely ATI Makassar Polytechnic, SMK-SMAK Makassar, SMK-SMTI Makassar, Morowali Metal Industry Polytechnic, and Bantaeng Manufacturing Industry Community Academy, as well as inviting 120 industrial partner companies, seven industrial zones, students from 25 local schools, and the general public.

"To realize national economic development, strong collaboration between industry players, the government, and universities is needed to encourage sustainable technological progress, joint applied research, and the provision of competent vocational graduates," said Minister of Industry AgusGumiwangKartasasmita in his statement on Friday (21/6).

Meanwhile, the Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), Masrokhan, explained that the organization of vocational education and training by the Ministry of Industry aims to fulfill and anticipate the needs of the industrial workforce, which currently exceeds 682,000 people.

"We also ensure the link and match between the skills needs of graduates in the industrial world and the quality of education in all vocational education units of the Ministry of Industry, not only for the present but also for the future industrial development," he explained.

Furthermore, Masrokhan revealed that in the next few years, various industry partners have opened industrial classes, provided scholarships, and conducted practitioner activities in schools and campuses.

The vocational education organization of the Ministry of Industry collaborates not only with domestic industrial companies such as PT. Mayora, PT. Krakatau Posco, PT. IMIP, PT. Petrokimia Gresik, PT. Komatsu, PT. FESTO, AXIOO, and other partners, but is also supported by foreign development partners such as Swisscontact, GIZ Germany, and AOTS Japan. This is considered a best practice that can be collaborated with all stakeholders, including Local Governments, Central and Regional Chambers of Commerce, and all educational and training units throughout Indonesia.

"The development of superior and quality human resources requires high commitment and synergy across stakeholders. Therefore, through this activity, it is hoped that the Ministry of Industry can collaborate with all industrial partners in Sulawesi and Indonesia," said the Acting Head of the Department of Industry and Trade of South Sulawesi Province, Since Erna Lamba. The Sulawesi regional IVF will be held on June 20-21, 2024, with an agenda including Industry Meeting, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), signing of MoUs, exhibition of Ministry of Industry education units and industries, open house, and job fair.

This job fair event will open up to 1,534 positions in 17 Ministry of Industry industrial partners, not only for graduates of Ministry of Industry schools and campuses, but also for schools and campuses in South Sulawesi and surrounding areas. "This is a realization of the commitment and collaboration from all of us to meet the needs of the industrial workforce, especially in the manufacturing sector, so that the national industry continues to grow," said the Head of the Industrial Vocational Education Development Center (PPPVI) WulanApriliantiPermatasari. All Ministry of Industry vocational education units have conducted admissions for new students through the Joint Industrial Vocational Admission Route (JARVIS) from May 2 to 31, 2024, with a total of 50,737 applicants or a ratio of 1:8.
