Friday, 21 Jun 2024

In the midst of the push to strengthen economic ties and regional collaboration, the Malaysia-China Summit (MCS) 2024, also known as the Malaysia-China Summit 2024, is recognized by Indonesian business players as a platform that can drive collaboration and international trade. Indonesian entrepreneurs are expected to send delegations to this prestigious summit, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in December.

The networking event held in Jakarta today highlights the importance of strengthening economic relations within ASEAN and how MCS 2024 can be a significant opportunity for economic growth and collaboration between countries. MCS 2024 emphasizes the collective benefits and shared interests in regional economic integration.

Stronger Malaysia-Indonesia Relations

H.E. Dato' Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin, the Malaysian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, stated in his speech, "MCS 2024 is not only a meeting point for business players, but also a catalyst for strengthening relations within ASEAN, especially between Malaysia and Indonesia. This summit will be held in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Malaysia's bilateral relations with China."

Dato' Syed Mohamad Hasrin delivered his speech through Mr. Farzamie Sarkawi, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, at the Networking Series MCS 2024 event in Jakarta as part of efforts to promote this conference in ASEAN countries, particularly Indonesia. Similar events will also be held in Bangkok, Thailand next month.

Golden Opportunity for Indonesian Entrepreneurs

The Chairman of BPC HIPMI Jakarta Barat, Ir. Rika Amelia Rush, stated that MCS 2024 is an extraordinary opportunity for Indonesian entrepreneurs to showcase their expertise and innovation. "MCS 2024 provides a platform to showcase their capabilities, innovative products, and services, as well as reach a wide audience in ASEAN and China. This conference allows for an impactful exchange of knowledge and experiences, enhancing our presence on the global stage," he said.

MCS 2024, which will be held on 17-19 December 2024 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, is organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd. The event commemorates the 50 years of Malaysia-China bilateral relations and promises a dynamic platform for trade and investment, promoting economic integration and cooperation between ASEAN countries and China.

Integrating ASEAN for the Future

Although MCS 2024 is an event between Malaysia and China, Dato’ Syed Mohamad Hasrin emphasized its far-reaching impact beyond these two countries. "Integrating ASEAN into this conference is a strategically important step to enhance the resilience and competitiveness of this region's economy," he said.

Benefits for Indonesian Business and Economy

Richard Teo, CEO of Qube Integrated, highlighted the significant benefits for Indonesian businesses participating in this conference. "This is an ideal platform for participants to expand their networks with over 500 exhibition participants and 10,000 visitors. This will foster connections with leading companies from Malaysia, China, and other ASEAN countries." The conference theme, "Prosperity Beyond 50," signifies the long-term partnership between Malaysia and China while opening opportunities for the future. Indonesian participation is crucial given the strong trade relations between Indonesia and Malaysia. In 2023, bilateral trade reached RM 111.21 billion (USD 24.39 billion), making Indonesia Malaysia's seventh largest trading partner globally and the third largest in ASEAN. With Malaysia set to lead ASEAN in 2025, MCS 2024 aligns with ASEAN's vision of a prosperous and connected region.
