The Ministry Of Industry Office In Pekanbaru Plays A Role In Creating A Sustainable Industry

Wednesday, 04 Dec 2024

Riau and the Riau Islands have significant potential for developing a sustainable industry. Currently, there are 920 industries in these regions, covering key sectors like palm oil, timber, and other processed prodcts.

Riau is known for having the largest palm oil plantations in Indonesia, accounting for about 20.6% or 3.38 million hectares of the national total of 16.38 million hectares. This indicates that there are still many opportunities for industrial development in Riau, according to Andi Rizaldi, the Head of the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) at the Ministry of Industry.

He emphasized that Riau and the Riau Islands play a crucial role in supporting the growth and supply chain of the national industry. However, this potential needs to be managed effectively through collaboration among stakeholders, including the government, industry players, and technical service institutions.

Andi also expressed his hope that the Pekanbaru Standardization and Industrial Services Agency (BSPJI), a unit under BSKJI, will play a strategic role in advancing the industrial sector in Riau and the Riau Islands. For instance, by offering services like the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH), BSPJI Pekanbaru can be a key partner for industry players in enhancing product quality and ensuring public safety.

Additionally, BSPJI Pekanbaru has been actively supporting local industries by providing services such as testing, calibration, certification, and training. This not only offers technical solutions but also fosters a competitive and sustainable industry.

The Head of BSKJI expressed appreciation to BSPJI Pekanbaru for organizing the Industry Meeting 2024 on November 21, 2024. "I hope this industry meeting strengthens the collaboration between BSPJI Pekanbaru and all industry stakeholders," he stated.

Andi is optimistic that with the commitment and synergy of all parties, the industry in Riau and the Riau Islands can grow rapidly, leading to positive economic impacts and contributing to environmental sustainability. "Through this collaboration, we can create a competitive industrial ecosystem on a global scale," he added.

Siti Rohmatul Ummah, the Head of BSPJI Pekanbaru, mentioned that this industry meeting serves as a platform for stronger and more beneficial collaboration for all involved in achieving a sustainable industry. During this event, BSPJI Pekanbaru launched its Main LPH.

"With this new status, LPH BSPJI Pekanbaru can inspect various product scales, from micro to large, both nationally and internationally," Siti explained.

Additionally, during this event, BSPJI Pekanbaru awarded SPPT SNI certificates to seven loyal customers: PT Prima Organik Agro, PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, PT Kunango Jantan Agro, CV Ananda Water, PT Indonesia Ionized Mineral Water, PT Cakra Alam Sejati, and PT Tirta Emas Kemasindo.

BSPJI Pekanbaru also presented Halal Certificates to PT First Resources and Green Industry Certificates to PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia. "We also give special appreciation to our loyal customers, PT First Resources, Kopsyah Patrindo, and Mr. Heriyanto for their trust in using BSPJI Pekanbaru's services," Siti concluded.

The industry meeting also featured a talk show session with speakers from the Sumatra Eco-region Development Control Center - Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).
