BRI Life And KPK Strengthen Their Commitment To Fight Corruption Through Education In Hakordia

Monday, 02 Dec 2024

BRI Life Insurance is collaborating with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to mark World Anti-Corruption Day 2024, which this year focuses on the theme "Strengthen Commitment, Eradicate Corruption for a Progressive Indonesia." The event includes literacy and education on the implementation of the Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP), inviting the company's directors and third-party partners who have worked with BRI Life.

This initiative is part of BRI Life's efforts, alongside its parent company Bank BRI, to actively prevent and combat corruption. It aims to ensure commitment and concrete actions taken against corruption while encouraging all parties to unite for a corruption-free business environment.

During the event, BRI Life's CEO Aris Hartanto emphasized the importance of upholding Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and integrity values, especially in anti-bribery efforts. He reaffirmed BRI Life's commitment to supporting the fight against corruption.

In a separate statement, Aris mentioned that BRI Life consistently adheres to regulations from its parent company and stakeholders to minimize bribery cases. As a result, BRI Life has held the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System certification since 2021.

Aris noted that forums like this are crucial for sharing information and receiving input from competent authorities like the KPK regarding bribery forms and related laws. This event also serves as a learning opportunity to strengthen the management system for future improvements.

Aris emphasized the importance of understanding the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) for marketing teams and agents. He stated that agents should be aware of the existing ABMS, and BRI Life will continue to monitor and comply with the regulations set by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), under the supervision of the Non-Bank Financial Industry (IKNB).

Meanwhile, Wawan Wardiana, Deputy for Education and Community Participation at the KPK, who was a speaker at the event, discussed anti-corruption strategies and the corruption perception index in Indonesia, among other related topics.

Wawan highlighted the values individuals should adopt to avoid corruption, which include honesty, independence, responsibility, courage, simplicity, care, discipline, fairness, and hard work, summarized in the "Jumat Bersepeda KK" initiative.

In line with this, the Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) program, organized by IICG in collaboration with SWA Magazine, is now in its 24th year. This year, BRI Life improved its ranking and received the Most Trusted Company award with a score of 85.4, moving up from the Trusted Company category.

I Dewa Gede Agung, Compliance and Legal Director of BRI Life, noted that the CGPI Award "Indonesia Trusted Companies 2024" recognizes companies that consistently implement Good Corporate Governance (GCG) practices to ensure business sustainability.

Dewa mentioned that this achievement is due to BRI Life's ongoing initiatives, particularly ISO 37001:2016 for the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) and ISO 37301 for compliance management, emphasizing that compliance can be understood and practiced in an engaging and enjoyable way.
