InterSystems, a provider of innovative data technology, helps customers tackle issues of scalability, interoperability, and speed. They announced that EMC Healthcare, a subsidiary of EMTEK Group, has successfully implemented the integrated health information system, InterSystems TrakCare, in eight hospitals. Notably, seven of these hospitals launched the system within 18 months after the first hospital went live. This centralized electronic medical record (EMR) system was put into operation at Alam Sutera Hospital, EMC Tangerang, Grha Kedoya, EMC Pulomas, EMC Sentul, EMC Cikarang, EMC Pekayon, and EMC Cibitung. This digital investment aims to provide a world-class care experience for patients while enhancing the operational efficiency of the hospitals. With TrakCare, authorized medical staff can quickly and securely access patient medical records. As a result, the system reduces the risk of errors or delays in processes such as admissions, laboratory work, radiology, pharmacy, and surgery, as everything is integrated into one system. Important information like patient allergies and medications is now easy to record and access, and there is clinical decision support to minimize prescription errors. The use of barcode identification for patients and medications also helps reduce mistakes. TrakCare's interoperability allows EMC to integrate health information systems with other systems, leading to more efficient care and operational management. For instance, the automatic recording of patient vital signs integrated into the EMR system has proven to enhance patient safety. EMC Healthcare understands the importance of following government regulations on health data interoperability. The TrakCare system helps comply with Indonesia's mandate for healthcare facilities to adopt EMR and integrate with the SATUSEHAT platform from the Ministry of Health. InterSystems assists EMC in sending all necessary data to SATUSEHAT using the HL7® FHIR health data sharing standard. Wildan Djohany, the IT Director of EMC Healthcare, mentioned that this digital transformation enhances the patient experience. "Now, EMC Healthcare provides a fully digital patient journey. Patients can make appointments via WhatsApp, which connects directly to the TrakCare EMR, check doctor availability, and receive a barcode for registration upon arrival at the hospital. Additionally, patients receive WhatsApp notifications to remind them of their appointments and speed up services at the pharmacy," he said. With fully digital services, patients enjoy convenience and create a more efficient process throughout the hospital. This private hospital group expects improved efficiency due to standardized processes now supported by digital technology. "TrakCare allows us to have more standardized and efficient processes. Our medical team is now more open to digitalization. They understand how to simplify processes and make patient information more structured and accessible," Djohany added. EMC Healthcare has also launched a mobile app that uses the TrakCare API, enabling patients to access EMR information such as test results, appointments, and registrations. This app will continue to evolve to offer more services, including ambulance calls and tracking their location and arrival time. Currently, several EMC Healthcare hospitals are undergoing accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), with three already successfully accredited.
