Mazda Indonesia Targets 800 SPK At GIIAS 2025

Friday, 04 Jul 2025

Mazda Indonesia has confirmed its presence at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) with a big surprise. In the annual automotive exhibition to be held on July 24–August 3, 2025 at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Mazda will launch two new sport utility vehicle (SUV) models.

Chief Operating Officer of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), Ricky Thio, revealed that the presence of the two new cars could achieve positive results at the annual automotive exhibition.

"We are optimistic that we can reach the target of 800 SPK. This figure is an accumulation of new and existing models," said Ricky at the Mazda event in the South Jakarta area, Monday (6/30/5).

For the record, Mazda managed to record 833 SPK during the 2024 GIIAS event. At that time, SUV lines such as the CX-5, CX-8, CX-9, to the CX-80 PHEV were the backbone of sales for this Japanese brand.

However, entering the seventh month, the national automotive market conditions in 2025 are not yet enthusiastic. Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), Mazda's wholesale sales throughout January-May 2025 only reached 1,148 units, with a market share of 0.4 percent. Meanwhile, retail sales were recorded at 1,315 units.

While overall, it is also experiencing a decline. Total wholesale car sales in Indonesia in the January-May 2025 period were recorded at 316,981 units, down 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, retail sales were even more deeply corrected, dropping 9.2 percent annually to 328,852 units.

Even so, Mazda remains confident in facing the market. Ricky said that Mazda will continue to prioritize quality and present product differentiation to maintain its existence.

"We have many new models that will be launched until 2030," he concluded.
