Minister Of Creative Economy Says Automotive Industry Is Interesting To Develop

Minister of Creative Economy (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky, and the Jogja Volkswagen Festival (JVWF) committee team discussed opportunities for cross-sector collaboration that could encourage the growth of the creative industry in the automotive sector. 

The discussion was held during an audience between Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky and the JVWF team which took place at the Autograph Tower, Jakarta on Thursday (6/19/2025). 

"Although we do not specifically regulate the nomenclature of the automotive industry, this industry is a very interesting subsector to develop. Because it has many intersections with other creative economy subsectors and can provide a sustainable impact on the creative economy ecosystem," said the Minister of Creative Economy, quoted from the press release of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Monday (6/23). 

In the dialogue session, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky expressed his readiness to support the implementation of JVWF which is scheduled to take place on July 12-13, 2025 at the UGM Innovation & Creativity Center. 

The Minister of Creative Economy highlighted the government's strategic role in advancing the creative industry in the automotive sector as one of the drivers of national economic growth and creating quality jobs. 

"We are very open to providing support for the organization of this event, both in the form of coaching, promotion facilitation, and other forms of collaboration that can be communicated further. We believe that the automotive sector has great potential and is worthy of being sheltered and developed as part of the national creative industry ecosystem," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky. 

Jogja Volkswagen Festival (JVWF) is an international class automotive event initiated and organized by the Volkswagen Club Yogyakarta (VCY) since 2013. This festival will be filled with activities that focus on public education, strengthening collaboration between stakeholders in the automotive creative industry, and utilizing digital technology as a delivery medium that attracts young people. 

"The JVWF event is not only an exhibition, but in it we also hold a knowledge sharing session, especially for young people, about how something that was initially just a hobby, gradually developed into a community, then could become a national-scale business," explained the General Chair of VCY, Didik Rahadian. 

Didik wants this festival event to not only be an exhibition event, but also function as a forum or marketplace for MSMEs to collaborate with each other.
