PT BYD Motor's electric cars are still selling well even though automotive sector sales are depressed in May 2025. Here are the prices of BYD Seal, Atto 3, Dolphin, Sealion 7, Denza and M6 electric cars in June 2025 before you buy.

Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), car sales as of May 2025 in wholesale (factory to dealer) were recorded at 60,613 units, down 15.1% annually (YoY) compared to May 2024 of 71,391 units.

A similar decline occurred in retail sales (dealer to consumer) which only reached 61,339 units, also down 15.1% (YoY).

In the midst of a sluggish market, Toyota continues to dominate with the highest sales in May 2025 of 20,995 units, even jumping 30.6% compared to April

Daihatsu ranked second with 11,166 units, growing 25.7% month-on-month. Mitsubishi Motors surged to third place with 4,756 units, replacing Suzuki (3,921 units) and Honda (3,166 units).

Electric cars from China showed impressive performance with BYD recording 2,799 units, Chery posting 1,993 units, and Wuling selling 1,566 units.

Chairman I of Gaikindo Jongkie Sugiarto said the downward trend was caused by weakening consumer purchasing power and economic instability.

"The main factor in the current decline in car sales is the decline in consumers' ability to buy new vehicles," he explained.

Cumulatively, car sales from January to May 2025 (wholesales) were recorded at 316,981 units, down 5.5% compared to the same period last year (335,405 units).

Retail sales fell even deeper, 9.2% to 328,852 units from 362,163 units previously.
