Tax Opinion Applicable, Car Prices Increase By Up To IDR 5 Million

The implementation of the vehicle transfer tax (BBN-KB) option for new units directly increases the selling price. This condition will certainly affect car sales in the regions. The implementation of the option is a government step to cut bureaucracy in distributing funds obtained from taxes. So, city and district governments can directly receive funds from levies. It is known that a number of regions have implemented vehicle tax delays and relief, but there are several regions that have started to implement the tax option. 

This was revealed by the Director of Marketing & Corporate Communications of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) Sri Agung Handayani when met in Jakarta, Tuesday (5/20/2025). 

"The ones that (the price) increased in April have been implemented are Central Java, West Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, and South Sulawesi," said Agung. "What we are waiting for are the provisions, because the period has expired, until the end of April, those are Gorontalo and North Sumatra," he said. 

According to him, the increase in the price of Daihatsu cars due to the tax option in these regions is around IDR 4 million to IDR 5 million on the road. "The areas mentioned earlier contribute approximately 10-12 percent (to our sales)," said Agung. "We hope that this will not be implemented. There are no other (areas). Because some are postponed, some are up to 6 months. Let's wait, let's wait to see what it will be like," he said.
