Investment In The Automotive Industry Reached Rp174 Trillion, Check The Details

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) revealed that the investment value in the automotive industry reached IDR 174 trillion by 2024. The Director of the Maritime Industry, Transportation Equipment, and Defense Equipment (IMATAP) of the Ministry of Industry, Mahardi Tunggul Wicaksono said that the investment value was contributed by 32 car manufacturers, as well as 73 manufacturers of two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles. "Investment in four-wheeled vehicles is IDR 143.91 trillion, while two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles are recorded at IDR 30.4 trillion," said Tunggul at the Industry Journalist Forum (Forwin) Discussion event on Monday (19/5/2025). As a result, if totaled, the investment value in the automotive industry was recorded at IDR 174.31 trillion. 

In detail, the four-wheeled motor vehicle industry in 2024 recorded a production performance of 1.19 million units. On the other hand, domestic sales were 865,000 units, and exports of completely built up (CBU) cars were 472,000 units. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2025, car production performance was 288,000 units, sales were 205,000 units. CBU car exports were 110,000 units and CBU imports were 11,000 units. 

Meanwhile, two-wheeled motor vehicles in 2024 recorded a production performance of 6.91 million units, sales performance of 6.33 million units. Meanwhile, CBU exports were 572,000 units. In the first quarter of 2025, two-wheeled vehicle production performance was 1.81 million units, sales were 1.68 million units, and CBU exports were 134,000 units. On the other hand, Tunggul said, the total investment in the national electric vehicle industry was recorded at IDR 5.63 trillion, contributed by manufacturers of electric buses, electric cars, and electric two- and three-wheeled vehicles. For electric buses, there are 7 companies with a production capacity of 3,100 units per year. The investment value is IDR 380 billion. Furthermore, investment in electric two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles was contributed by 63 companies with a production capacity of 2.28 million units per year. The investment value reached Rp1.13 trillion. "Then the electric car investment consists of 9 manufacturers with a production capacity of 70,060 units per year, the total investment is Rp4.12 trillion," concluded Tunggul.
