The Indonesian Post
The affordable 7-passenger family car segment or Low Multi Purpose Vehicle (LMPV) experienced a 39 percent decline in sales in April 2025. Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), total distribution from factories to dealers (wholesales) throughout the month only reached 5,590 units, down drastically from 9,284 units in the previous month. This decline is in line with the slowdown in the national automotive market due to weakening public purchasing power, causing manufacturers to adjust the distribution of several popular models such as the Toyota Avanza and Mitsubishi Xpander. In detail, although it returned to the top position as the best-selling LMPV in Indonesia with a total of 2,595 units sold, the Avanza's performance actually showed a 48 percent decline compared to the previous month, which was 5,069 units. Meanwhile, the Xpander experienced a decline in sales from 1,353 units to 764 units in the same period. As a result, Mitsubishi Indonesia's flagship model dropped one rank in the national LMPV competition map. On the other hand, Suzuki Ertiga recorded a significant spike with sales of 793 units and is now in second place. In the previous month, Ertiga only recorded 294 units. In the next position, Toyota Veloz recorded sales of 733 units, down slightly from 793 units in the previous month. Hyundai Stargazer followed with 606 units, not much different from its performance in March 2025 which was 649 units.
