Polytron Launches Electric Vehicle On May 6, 2025, Targeting The Automotive Industry

, 04 May 2025

Fifty years marks not only a golden age for Polytron but also a transformative moment. The national electronics company, established in 1975, is now poised to diversify its business by entering a new arena: the electric four-wheeled vehicle industry. On May 6, 2025, just a few months before its 50th anniversary, Polytron will officially unveil its first electric car to the Indonesian public. This expansive move is not a sudden decision.

Over the past two years, Polytron has demonstrated its commitment to the electric vehicle sector through the launch of electric motorcycles. The results have been quite surprising, as this product has not only been well-received in the market but has also become the best-selling electric motorcycle in Indonesia, providing a strong foundation for the transition from two wheels to four. Amid the rapid global shift towards vehicle electrification, Polytron aims to be more than just a follower. By partnering with Skyworth Auto, a Chinese EV manufacturer, Polytron is beginning to develop a comprehensive long-term strategy. This includes product development, the establishment of local assembly lines, and distribution plans targeting major cities such as Jakarta, Semarang, and Surabaya.

'Wider accessibility is the key phrase. Polytron wants to ensure that the technology of future mobility is closer, more friendly, and more aligned with the real needs of the Indonesian people,' stated Tekno Wibowo, Commercial Director of Polytron. This statement reflects the company's broader direction: not merely selling electric cars but providing sustainable mobility solutions that are relevant to the local context. In terms of design and technology, the electric vehicle set to be launched by Polytron is believed to be based on the Skyworth K, a Chinese electric SUV. Although not officially announced, this model is rumored to have a range of up to 620 km with an 85.97 kWh battery, a feature that could compete in Indonesia's premium EV market.
