Tech giant Huawei has officially launched its newest automotive brand, Shangjie, which is a collaboration with SAIC Motor, one of China's largest automakers.

Quoting ArenaEV, Thursday (4/24/2025), the two companies had signed a formal agreement regarding the collaboration two months earlier.

Huawei Senior Executive Richard Yu introduced the Shangjie brand at an event featuring Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business line. He announced that the first electric vehicle with the Shangjie brand is scheduled to launch in the fall of this year.

Shangjie is the fifth vehicle brand to operate under the HIMA umbrella, along with Aito (Seres Group), Luxeed (Chery), Stelato (BAIC Group), and Maextro (JAC).

SAIC President Jia Jianxu revealed that Shangjie will receive an initial investment of 6 billion yuan and is supported by more than 5,000 workers who will focus on developing this new brand.

Jia also explained that Shangjie will use SAIC's most advanced production line and plans to have its own exclusive factory.

He said that Shangjie will highlight stylish design, advanced technology, and high-quality driving experience for its consumers. Huawei and SAIC first signed an in-depth cooperation agreement on February 21 in Shanghai, where SAIC is headquartered.

The collaboration will cover all aspects of automotive production from design and manufacturing, parts procurement, to sales and after-sales service.

Although the two companies have not revealed specific details about Shangjie's first model, local media reports said that the first car will be aimed at young consumers, with a starting price of around 150,000 yuan. The product is said to be the most affordable electric car under the HIMA umbrella.

Local sources also said that all Shangjie models will be marketed through HIMA's existing sales channels. Other reports said that Shangjie's first electric car will be based on SAIC Roewe's new vehicle, known internally as the ES39.
