Xiaomi To Sell Electric Cars To Global Market Starting 2027

Xiaomi has commented on its plans to sell its electric cars overseas. According to its President, William Lu, the Chinese tech giant will begin its global adventure in 2027. 

Quoted from Carnewschina, William Lu also hinted that Xiaomi will begin exploring the European automotive market in March 2025. 

The announcement regarding Xiaomi's global strategy was made during an interview with Chinese media, Jiemian, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, in Spain, where the SU7 Ultra made its debut outside of China. 

Meanwhile, Xiaomi's plan to market electric cars overseas is also to prove that its products are not only well received in the local market. In line with this ambition, the company also wants to follow in the footsteps of other Chinese automotive manufacturers who have launched their businesses outside of China. 

In addition, according to reports from China, last December, Xiaomi formed a business preparation group to begin research on overseas sales. 

Many argue that Xiaomi will first be present in several countries to test market response. This is also a preparation for launching other large vehicles, on a larger scale. 

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Sold 10 Thousand Units in 2 Hours 

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is officially sold in China, and has received a very positive response. In fact, the latest electric sedan from the Chinese technology giant, was able to sell 10 thousand units, which is the annual sales target in just two hours. 

Quoted from Carnewschina, the price of the SU7 Ultra itself is 35 percent lower than the previous pre-sale price, and the delivery itself will be carried out in April 2025. 

"Our mission is to make luxury cars affordable," explained Xiaomi CEO and founder Lei Jun. "Traditional gasoline-powered vehicles will definitely be defeated by this car," said Lei Jun. 

Meanwhile, orders for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra opened on February 27, 2025, at 10 pm China time. Then, Xiaomi received 6,900 orders for this high-performance electric sedan in just 10 minutes. 

Meanwhile, the target of 10 thousand units was achieved in two hours. Customers need to deposit a deposit of 20 thousand yuan which can be refunded within a week, after which the order will be locked.
