MG To Launch First Hybrid Car In Indonesia Soon

MG has leaked that it will launch a new hybrid product in Indonesia. It is not yet known for certain which model will be launched, but reportedly the car will be produced locally. "We are planning to have a local product for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) in Indonesia using our factory," said He Guowei, CEO of MG Motor Indonesia, at Senayan Park, South Jakarta, Tuesday (4/3/2025). 

However, Guowei could not confirm whether the latest hybrid car from MG would receive incentives from the government or not. The reason is, to get incentives for hybrid cars including the Government-borne Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPnBM DTP) of 3 percent, several requirements must be met. 

Among them, hybrid cars that receive this incentive must be assembled domestically, so that they have a TKDN that is in accordance with government regulations. "I need to check this again, we are currently finding out whether we can enjoy an additional 3 percent incentive for HEV," said Guowei. It could be that the model in question is the MG ZS HEV, considering that this car has already been launched globally with a more modern and aggressive design. 

The MG ZS Hybrid itself is equipped with a conventional 1,498 cc engine with 100 Hp of power and 128 Nm of torque. This engine is equipped with a 1.83 kWh battery, its power is channeled through an electric motor capable of producing a combined output of up to 194 Tk and a maximum torque of 465 Nm.
