Getting To Know XPENG, A New Car From China That Enlivens The Indonesian Automotive Industry

Chinese brand, XPENG, is officially present in Indonesia through a partnership with local company Erajaya Active Lifestyle (ERAL). Here is the profile of XPENG which will compete in the automotive industry in Indonesia. 

"XPENG is looking for partners who share the same vision and dreams. Erajaya Active Lifestyle is a 'neo-force' in Indonesia and is the right partner for XPENG in the local market," said Brian Gu as Vice Chairman and President of XPENG at the brand launch in Jakarta, Friday (28/2/2025). 

Founded in 2014, XPENG is a leading AI-based mobility company from China that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets smart electric vehicles (Smart EVs), serving an increasingly technologically savvy consumer base. 

With rapid advances in the field of AI, XPENG aspires to become a global leader in AI-based mobility, with a mission to drive the smart electric vehicle revolution through cutting-edge technology, shaping the future of mobility. 

To enhance customer experience, XPENG independently develops advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology, along with intelligent in-vehicle operating systems, as well as core vehicle systems such as powertrain and electrical/electronic architecture (EEA). 

Headquartered in Guangzhou, China, XPENG also has main offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Silicon Valley, and Amsterdam. Its smart electric vehicles are manufactured at its facilities located in Zhaoqing and Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. 

If you look at its official website, XPENG has quite a lot of electric car model lines, from X9, G9, G6, P7, P5, and G3i. The two XPENG models that are planned to be sold in Indonesia are the X9 and G6. 

The XPENG X9 combines futuristic design, the most advanced autonomous driving technology, and a spacious, luxurious interior. Designed for family and business use, the X9 is claimed to provide a smooth, smart, and comfortable driving experience. 

While the XPENG G6 is a high-performance electric SUV designed for urban areas. The G6 is claimed to offer extraordinary range, fast charging capabilities, and a sophisticated intelligent cockpit. This model has a range of up to 550 km, accelerates from 0-100 km in just 4.1 seconds, and charges its battery from 10-80% in just 20 minutes.
