Thursday, 27 Feb 2025

The Chinese automotive brand Jaecoo has announced plans to establish a vehicle assembly plant by 2026. Currently, Jaecoo is utilizing the production facilities of PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) located in Purwakarta, West Java. In addition to Jaecoo, several other Chinese brands, including Geely, Zeekr, and Xpeng, are also operating at the Handal factory. Max Zhou, the Country Director of Jaecoo Indonesia, stated that the company has already identified several potential investors to finance the construction of its plant, although he has not disclosed their identities. "Since 2024, there have been several investors interested in funding our plant's development," Max told Bisnis, as reported on Monday, February 24, 2025.

He expressed hope that Jaecoo would finalize the investment process by the end of 2025, allowing construction to commence in 2026. "We aim to complete the investment process by the end of this year, with the expectation of starting the plant's construction in 2026," he remarked.

According to him, the construction of the plant is expected to take approximately one to two years, meaning it should be operational by 2028 at the latest. "I hope we can have the new plant ready by 2027 or 2028, as we are committed to adhering to government directives regarding the domestic content level (TKDN)," Max explained. However, he could not confirm the exact location of the Jaecoo plant, although it will remain on the island of Java. Additionally, Jaecoo has launched the Jaecoo J7 hybrid SUV, which features a super hybrid system (SHS). This SHS technology combines super HEV and EV technologies, providing optimal fuel efficiency even in hybrid mode.
