Geely has officially re-entered the Indonesian automotive market, marked by the launch of the Geely EX5. The Chinese company previously entered Indonesia in 2010 but exited in 2016. Looking ahead to 2025, Geely aims to establish 40 dealerships to enhance accessibility for consumers across various regions of Indonesia.

"We plan to have 40 dealerships by 2025," stated Yusuf Ansori, Brand Director of Geely Auto Indonesia, following the launch event at the Pullman Hotel in West Jakarta on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Additionally, Evin Ye, Vice President of Geely Auto International Corporation, revealed the company's dealership prospects for the next three years, indicating plans to open approximately 100 dealerships.

"We intend to expand aggressively by establishing 100 dealerships in major cities over the next three years," Evin remarked.

Moreover, Geely plans to assemble environmentally friendly vehicles in Indonesia, utilizing the local workforce available in the country.

"Geely Auto Indonesia will operate as a subsidiary, leveraging local expertise to provide the best experience for customers," Evin Ye added.

The assembly of Geely vehicles will take place at the facilities of PT Handal Indonesia Motor in Bekasi, West Java, starting in the second quarter of 2025.

In addition, the latest model, the Geely EX5, is set to be unveiled at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025, scheduled for February.

The Geely EX5 offers four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Comfort, and Sport. This five-passenger vehicle is equipped with a new short blade battery with a capacity of 60.22 kWh, which is claimed to have high energy density and a long lifespan.

With a fully charged battery, the vehicle can travel up to 495 kilometers, delivering a power output of 214 hp (217 Ps) and a peak torque of 320 Nm.
