Yamaha Unveils The Most Advanced NMAX In The World, Equipped With A TURBO Technology Engine

As its 50th anniversary approaches on July 6th, PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Mfg. (YIMM) has a surprise for premium scooter enthusiasts in the country with the launch of their most advanced product in the MAXi Yamaha scooter lineup, the NMAX "TURBO". The global premiere took place on Wednesday (12/6) at the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton in Kemayoran, Jakarta.

With various updates in terms of design, features, and engine performance packed with advanced technology, the NMAX "TURBO" is believed to not only provide the highest level of riding experience and confidence for its users, but also set a new standard in the premium 150cc scooter segment in the country.

"As a 'KANDO' creating company that continuously innovates to bring something new to support consumer mobility needs, in conjunction with Yamaha Indonesia's 50th anniversary, we present the NMAX "TURBO" in various variants to the Indonesian community.

This is the most advanced NMAX in the world, equipped with a more luxurious design, first-class features, and an engine performance that adopts the new YECVT technology, providing a TURBO sensation while riding," said Dyonisius Beti, President Director & CEO of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Mfg., during his speech at the NMAX "TURBO" launch event.

Developed with the concept of Evolution: Fun Tech X Prestige X Sporty, the NMAX "TURBO" is a scooter that offers a combination of premium values with advanced technology that supports the passion for riding.

The premium value can be seen in the design and the inclusion of first-class features on the motorcycle. Meanwhile, Fun Tech refers to the presence of the latest Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT) technology, which provides a fun riding experience with a "TURBO" sensation.

The main advantage that makes NMAX "TURBO" stand out is the use of the latest generation Blue Core 155cc VVA engine, which has been proven reliable, powerful, and has even torque at every engine rotation to support various mobility needs. With updates in the powertrain sector, NMAX "TURBO" is capable of producing a maximum power of 11.3 kW / 8,000 Rpm and a maximum torque of 14.2 Nm / 6,500 Rpm.

The new engine performance on NMAX "TURBO" is also optimized with the latest advanced technology, namely YECVT* which replaces the conventional CVT system. With this technology, NMAX "TURBO" now has Riding Mode* feature that offers 2 riding modes, T-Mode (Town Commuting) and S-Mode (Sport Touring) that can be operated through the "Mode" button on the front left handlebar. T-Mode is suitable for daily city commuting, providing a smoother and more fuel-efficient riding experience. On the other hand, S-Mode is ideal for long-distance travel such as touring, offering more responsive riding acceleration.

Based on Yamaha's internal testing results using S riding mode, NMAX "TURBO" can accelerate faster over a distance of 200 meters compared to the previous generation NMAX, with a difference of 9.2 meters**.

In addition to the Riding Mode, with the use of YECVT, NMAX "TURBO" also features Y-Shift* with the operation button located under the left handlebar. Y-Shift provides a different riding sensation by assisting riders in instant speed acceleration like a "TURBO" with 3 levels, namely Low (1), Medium (2), and High (3) which is suitable for overtaking vehicles, climbing hills, or riding tandem.
