The Financial Services Authority (OJK), in partnership with the Indonesian Fintech Association (Aftech), the Indonesian Sharia Fintech Association (AFSI), and the Indonesian Funding Fintech Association (AFPI), is gearing up to host the National Fintech Month (BFN) 2024 along with the 6th Indonesia Fintech Summit and Expo (IFSE) 2024. Djoko Kurnijanto, who leads the IAKD Regulation and Licensing Department at OJK, shared that BFN 2024 is scheduled from November 11 to December 12, 2024, with the IFSE taking center stage on November 12-13, 2024. "The theme for this year is Technology Convergence, Shaping the Future of Finance and Beyond. This is a pressing global topic as technology permeates every facet of life, especially in finance. That’s why we chose this theme," Djoko remarked during a press conference at the OJK office on Monday, November 4, 2024. He also mentioned that regulators and fintech representatives from various countries have been invited to the IFSE, where discussions will focus on the challenges facing the fintech sector. He pointed out that the fintech landscape is rapidly changing with continuous innovations. The financial technology industry now spans nearly all areas of financial services. "This represents a convergence across the financial sector, including banking, insurance, capital markets, P2P lending, and more, all leveraging technology. This technology will shape the future of finance," he stressed. One of the initial challenges he mentioned is the sustainability of fintech companies, which is intricately connected to corporate governance and capital management. The second challenge focuses on human resources, as Djoko pointed out the importance of the skills and talents of individuals working in the fintech industry. The third challenge he identified involves partnerships and collaboration, stressing that the fintech ecosystem needs to be continually broadened to cover all facets of financial transactions. The fourth challenge is establishing a suitable regulatory framework. This is vital since the industry is closely linked to constant innovations that frequently arise before relevant regulations are put in place, he concluded.
