Indonesia's 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), emphasized his commitment to working hard for the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). So, will PSI become a major party under Jokowi's hard work? Indonesian Political Parameters (PPI) Director Adi Prayitno interpreted Jokowi's speech at the PSI Congress held in Solo, Central Java. Jokowi stated that he would go all out for PSI. At this Congress, Kaesang Pangarep was re-elected as PSI Chairman for the 2025-2030 term. "Jokowi's political speech emphasized two things at once. First, Jokowi has 'officially' joined PSI. When Jokowi said he fully supports and will work hard for PSI, it signals that Jokowi will go all out to grow PSI. We just have to see how PSI moves forward," Adi told reporters on Sunday (July 19, 2025). "So, it's no longer relevant to debate whether Jokowi will be the chairman of the PSI advisory board or not. Because politically, Jokowi will fight all-out for PSI," he added. Adi believes that the PSI will also be a platform to prove Jokowi's power after he leaves office. He also mentioned Jokowi's experience of consistently winning political contests. "Secondly, Jokowi's hard work at the PSI is a gamble and a testament to his power after he is no longer president and no longer in the PDI-P. This means that Jokowi's undefeated political experience, from his Solo candidacy, Jakarta gubernatorial election, and two terms as president, will be maximized to grow the PSI," he explained. Adi said that Jokowi's work also depends on the progress within the PSI. Adi noted that Jokowi already has extensive political experience. "We just have to wait and see how the PSI progresses after Jokowi commits to working hard for it. What's clear is that Jokowi has experience from his time in Solo to his two terms as president. He has the necessary resources to capitalize on to grow the PSI. Time and hard political work will tell," he explained.
