President Appoints Five Members Of The Selection Committee For Ombudsman Candidate Members For 2026-2031

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto appointed five members of the Selection Committee (Pansel) for Candidate Members of the Republic of Indonesia Ombudsman for the 2026-2031 Term in line with the membership of the Ombudsman for the 2021-2026 term which ends on February 22, 2026. 

"The membership of the Republic of Indonesia Ombudsman for the 2021-2026 term will end on February 22, 2026, so it is necessary to prepare a replacement candidate," said Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro in a press statement delivered at the Ministry of State Secretary Building, Presidential Palace of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, Tuesday. 

Jury announced the composition of the Republic of Indonesia Ombudsman Selection Committee based on Presidential Decree Number 57/P of 2025 dated June 3, 2025. 

The composition is Erwan Agus Purwanto as chairman and concurrent member of the Selection Committee; Munafrizal Manan as deputy chairman and concurrent member; and three other members: Ahmad Suaedy, Ma'mun Murod, and Ida Budhiati. 

Erwan Agus Purwanto, who was appointed as the Chair of the Selection Committee, is currently still serving as Deputy for Bureaucratic Reform, State Apparatus Accountability, and Supervision at the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform. 

Meanwhile, Munafrizal Manan as Deputy Chair of the Selection Committee is the Director General (Dirjen) of Human Rights Services and Compliance at the Ministry of Human Rights; Ma'mun Murod as a member is also the Chancellor of the Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UMJ); Ahmad Suaedy is the Dean of Nahdlatul Ulama University, and Ida Budhiati is a lecturer at Bhayangkara University who has served as a member of the KPU and a member of the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP). 

The jury hopes that the chair, deputy chair, and members of the Selection Committee for Candidate Members of the Indonesian Ombudsman can work to assist President Prabowo Subianto in selecting candidate members whose names will later be submitted to the President. Next, the President will select 18 names, then submit them to the Indonesian House of Representatives to undergo a fit and proper test. 

"The House of Representatives will conduct a fit and proper test and select 9 out of 18 people to be submitted back to the President to be appointed as members of the Ombudsman," said Juri. The task of the Selection Committee for Candidate Members of the Indonesian Ombudsman is to invite Indonesian citizens to register as candidates for members of the Indonesian Ombudsman for the 2026-2031 term. 

In the process, after the Selection Committee announces the registration for the acceptance of candidates for Ombudsman members, it will register candidates for Ombudsman members and conduct administrative selection of candidates for Ombudsman members. The process continues with the Selection Committee announcing the list of names of candidates for Ombudsman members to get public feedback, then conducting a selection of the quality and integrity of candidates for Ombudsman members, until finally determining and submitting the names of 18 candidates for members of the Indonesian Ombudsman to the President.
