The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) stated that President Prabowo Subianto's closeness with PDIP General Chairperson and Chair of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri at the c was a manifestation of the statesmanship of the two figures. PDIP Central Leadership Council (DPP) Chairman Said Abdullah said that Prabowo and Megawati have indeed been friends for a long time. "The relationship between the two has been well-knit for a long time, both in the political context, especially in strategic matters concerning the state ideology of Pancasila," Said said in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday. Moreover, previously on Monday (7/4) night, Said said that President Prabowo had visited Megawati's house in Menteng, Jakarta to conduct a silaturahim. The silaturahim activity, he said, should be appreciated as a respect given by Prabowo to national figures, especially because Prabowo has also visited the homes of other former state leaders. Thus, he considered Prabowo's sense of respect to be an important asset for the future government to build political stability and carry out development. Said also revealed that in his welcoming speech at the Pancasila Birth Day Ceremony, President Prabowo mentioned Megawati's name first before other figures. "It is very obvious that President Prabowo gave an honorable place to Ibu Mega, both as the fifth president of the Republic of Indonesia and as Chair of the BPIP Steering Committee. I think this goes beyond pragmatic political matters," he said. In addition, he continued, in his speech Prabowo also emphasized the importance of the nation to unite in order to become a strong nation in facing various national and state challenges that are not easy. According to him, Megawati certainly welcomed President Prabowo's ideas and thoughts. On the other hand, Said argued that the closeness between Megawati and Prabowo also continued the tradition of previous national leaders. In the past, it was said that many political figures of the nation had different political views and different ways of pursuing policy, but were still able to have good relations, maintain friendship, and even appoint each other to be the imam for congregational prayers together. "We also remember how Buya Hamka became the imam for President Soekarno's funeral prayer, even though their relationship was quite tough on political matters," added the Chairman of the Budget Agency of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).
