Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, stated that until now there has been no official decision regarding the discussion of the revision of the Election Law in the DPR. He said that the decision regarding the time and forum for discussion is entirely in the hands of the DPR leadership. "The revision of the Election Law has not been decided to be discussed in the DPR until today. At the beginning of the last session, we met with the DPR leadership, and it was conveyed that the momentum was not right because the election was still quite a long time away," said Rifqinizamy in a discussion entitled "The Future of Electoral Democracy in Indonesia" in the Menteng area, Jakarta, Tuesday. He emphasized that Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives will fully follow the leadership's direction. "If asked, there are only two answers, we follow the orders and directions of the DPR leadership. Commission II is accustomed to being a good congregation," said the people's representative in charge of elections. He also used the analogy of the relationship between the imam and the congregation in prayer. Rifqinizamy described the position of Commission II as a party that is ready to follow direction. "As a congregation, we have no right whatsoever to request what surah and verses are read. Let the imam decide," explained Rifqinizamy. According to him, Commission II remains ready to contribute if the leadership decides to discuss the revision of the Election Law in the Legislative Body (Baleg) or even form a Special Committee (Pansus). "Most of the members of Commission II are also members of Baleg. So whether in Baleg or in Pansus, we are ready. Our basic principle is, we are makmuman lillahi ta'ala," he concluded.
