The Meeting Between Prabowo And Megawati Will Not Impact The PDIP's Stance On Gibran

Tuesday, 22 Apr 2025

The upcoming follow-up meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri is expected to influence the critical stance of the PDI-P party to some extent. This meeting is believed to potentially bolster support for President Prabowo's administration.

This analysis was provided by Political Communication Expert M. Jamiluddin Ritonga from Esa Unggul University during a discussion with RMOL on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

"Politically, the PDIP is likely to adopt a more cooperative approach towards Prabowo. Consequently, the party may become less critical of him and more accommodating," stated Jamiluddin.

However, Jamiluddin is confident that the PDIP's cooperation will be exclusive to President Prabowo. A different attitude is expected towards Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of President Jokowi and the current Vice President.

"The PDIP's accommodating politics seem to be directed solely at Prabowo. The party will maintain its critical stance towards Vice President Gibran Rakabuming," Jamiluddin remarked.

Previously, PDIP DPP Chair Puan Maharani indicated that there would be further meetings between her mother and the President of Indonesia.

"There will be opportunities for silaturahmi and subsequent meetings," Puan told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, April 14, 2025.

Nevertheless, Puan refrained from specifying when these follow-up meetings would take place. She emphasized that the PDIP aims to collaborate with President Prabowo Subianto.

"Furthermore, we will explore how the PDIP can work together to build, assist, and synergize in carrying out the President's duties moving forward alongside Mr. Prabowo," Puan added.
