AHY: TNI Law Will Not Bring Indonesia To The Era Of ABRI Dual Function

Tuesday, 25 Mar 2025

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono assessed that the TNI Bill that was just passed a few days ago will not bring Indonesia into the era of ABRI dual function like the New Order.

"It is not true that this will return to the New Order era of ABRI dual function. Indeed, the narrative circulating in the wider community is confusing and we actually have to be able to see patiently and in detail what the differences are from the previous law," said Agus when met at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, Saturday.

According to the man who is familiarly called AHY, the TNI Bill that was just passed actually limits TNI officers from entering civilian agencies.

This, continued AHY, will actually clarify the TNI corridor so that it does not penetrate into positions in ministries or other institutions outside those regulated by law.

"These institutions also still have many roles that can be carried out and are indeed relevant to the tasks of the TNI, especially in military operations other than war (OMSP)," explained the man who won the Adhi Makayasa Akmil award class of 2000.

On the one hand, AHY understands that there are still many people who have the wrong perception in interpreting all the articles in the TNI Law. Therefore, he hopes that this TNI Law can be socialized optimally so that the public knows the main purpose of the law.

For your information, the list of institutions that active soldiers can enter is based on the revision of the TNI Law.
