Response 1: Statement From Political Figures Regarding Prabowo's Interest In Running For The 2029 Presidential Election

The Gerindra Party has publicly reaffirmed its intention to nominate its chairman, Prabowo Subianto, for the upcoming presidential election in 2029. This decision was reached during a consensus among party members at the Extraordinary Congress of the Gerindra Party held in Hambalang on Thursday, February 13, 2025. 

The announcement was made in the presence of the chairpersons of the Indonesia Maju Coalition (KIM) during a gathering ahead of the 17th anniversary celebration of Gerindra in Hambalang, West Java, on Friday, February 14, 2025.  

The information regarding this candidacy was disclosed by Ahmad Heryawan, Deputy Chairman of the DPP PKS Advisory Council, following his attendance at the KIM party chairpersons' meeting in Hambalang. "It was announced that Prabowo will run again in 2029," Ahmad stated in Hambalang, West Java, on Friday, February 14, 2025. 

Responses from Political Figures 

1. Willy Aditya 

Willy Aditya, Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party, indicated that NasDem has not yet made a decision regarding support for Prabowo. "It is still too early," Willy remarked in Hambalang, West Java, on Friday, February 14, 2025. 

He suggested that discussions should concentrate on the priority agenda of President Prabowo Subianto's administration. "Then we should focus on the KIM Plus coalition party to ensure that pro-people policies can be implemented," he added. 

Willy noted that NasDem has not yet engaged in discussions about the 2029 presidential election. Nevertheless, NasDem Chairman Surya Paloh has advised party members to commit to ensuring the success of Prabowo's government programs. 

"This is the time to unite. Indonesia is facing a global recession. Surya Paloh has urged members to maintain stability," he stated. 

2. Zulkifli Hasan 

Zulkifli Hasan, Chairman of PAN, congratulated Prabowo Subianto on his nomination for the 2029 presidential election. He also extended his congratulations on Prabowo's election as Chairman of the Gerindra Party for the 2025-2030 term during the VII Extraordinary Congress of Gerindra held in Hambalang, West Java.
