The government, the House of Representatives (DPR), and the election organizers, namely the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP), have reached an agreement to conduct the inauguration of elected regional heads resulting from the simultaneous regional elections of 2024 in a phased manner. The first phase of the inauguration is scheduled for February 6, 2025, for regional heads who are not involved in disputes at the Constitutional Court (MK). "The inauguration of governors and vice governors, regents and vice regents, as well as mayors and vice mayors elected in the national simultaneous elections of 2024, where there are no disputes regarding the election results at the Constitutional Court, will be conducted simultaneously on February 6, 2025, by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the National Capital," stated the Chairman of Commission II, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, during a working meeting held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. This decision was made after the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, presented several options regarding the schedule for the inauguration of regional heads. The first option proposes the inauguration for regions without disputes at the MK on February 6, 2025. Tito also suggested separating the inauguration times for governors from those of regents and mayors, with governors proposed to be inaugurated on February 6, 2025, and regents and mayors on February 10, 2025. The second option suggests that the inauguration of governors, regents, and mayors should wait for the decision on the election result disputes at the MK, with governors proposed to be inaugurated on April 17, 2025, while regents and mayors would begin on April 21, 2025. The third option is to commence the inauguration on March 20, 2024, following a dismissal ruling at the MK regarding the election result disputes. Rifqinizamy explained that for regions where the election results are still disputed at the MK, the inauguration of regional heads will take place after a ruling from the dispute session. "For those still undergoing the dispute process regarding the election results at the Constitutional Court, the inauguration will be conducted after the Constitutional Court's ruling becomes legally binding, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations," he stated.
