Thursday, 05 Dec 2024

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has announced that the Task Force for Downstreaming will concentrate on enhancing the value of 36 commodities. These commodities include mining products such as minerals and coal, as well as agricultural and pharmaceutical products.

"The Task Force is focused on 36 commodities, as there are many industries involved, not just mining, but also agriculture and pharmaceuticals," he stated during a meeting at Hotel Mulia in Jakarta on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The establishment of the Downstreaming Task Force is a decision made by President Prabowo Subianto, aimed at accelerating the downstreaming process.

Airlangga mentioned that the task force comprises several other ministries, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, and the Ministry of Industry. "The Downstreaming Task Force already includes representatives from three ministries. Therefore, preparations are currently underway," he added. Previously, in a separate statement, Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that Prabowo had decided to form the Downstreaming Task Force and appointed him as its chairman. Bahlil noted that the establishment of the task force, which aims to expedite downstreaming domestically, is still in progress.

They are currently awaiting the issuance of a Presidential Decree (Keppres) to provide the legal framework for the task force's formation. "During a meeting with President Prabowo, the decision to form the task force was made and will be followed up with a Presidential Decree. The decree is currently in process, and we are waiting for technical guidance from President Prabowo," Bahlil stated at Hotel Mulia. He explained that the involvement of multiple ministries in the Downstreaming Task Force is intended to expedite the work process, particularly concerning licensing.
