Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has requested the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to participate in maintaining the health of the State Budget (APBN).

"The police also have a responsibility to help safeguard the health of the APBN," said Sri Mulyani while attending the 2025 Polri Development Planning Consultation (Musrenbang), as quoted from a written statement in Jakarta on Friday.

She stated that the APBN will continue to be directed to support national development priorities, such as food security, energy, education, health, and poverty alleviation.

This will be achieved through flagship programs such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), the Red and White Village Cooperative, and People's Schools.

The role of Polri, Sri Mulyani further emphasized, is crucial in overseeing the implementation of these various priority programs, including maintaining public trust and creating a legal certainty that is conducive to investment and economic growth.

"We expect the Police to uphold legal certainty, ensure public safety, and maintain societal tranquility, allowing us to effectively support economic progress," stated the Minister of Finance.

The state treasurer also emphasized the close collaboration between the National Police and the Ministry of Finance, particularly in combating drug smuggling alongside Customs, as well as the Police's support in ensuring tax compliance.

Beyond national matters, Sri Mulyani also highlighted the increasingly complex global challenges, ranging from rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Europe to the diminishing effectiveness of a multilateral world order.

According to her, this situation necessitates that countries like Indonesia strengthen their national resilience in the areas of economy, defense, and security.

"As a large nation, with vast geography, a significant population, and a robust economy, we must continuously research and evaluate our governance methods. This is essential to ensure that the mandate of the Constitution, which states 'to protect the entire nation and all of Indonesia's territory,' is genuinely upheld," she added.

Sri Mulyani expressed her hope that the Ministry of Finance and the National Police can continue to maintain their strong cooperation, especially in safeguarding the nation and its people.
