Monday, 16 Jun 2025

The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Solidarity Party or PSI, Kaesang Pangarep, met with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo at the Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Kaesang said that he received a number of messages regarding politics from Pramono during the meeting.

Kaesang came accompanied by a number of PSI cadres when visiting Pramono's office. "We also received advice from the Governor regarding politics," said the youngest son of former president Joko Widodo after the meeting.

There were at least two messages regarding politics from Pramono for PSI and Kaesang. First, said Kaesang, was for them to work with focus. Second, Kaesang said that Pramono also advised PSI not to belittle others in politics. "That's all," said Kaesang.

In addition, Kaesang said that he also conveyed to Pramono that PSI would continue to criticize the governor's various policies. However, he said, the party with the red rose symbol would continue to strive not to interfere with the Jakarta government's programs.

The Chairperson of the Jakarta PSI Regional Leadership Council (DPW) Elva Farhi Qolbina, who accompanied Kaesang, said that Pramono gave advice to PSI as a senior politician. "The Governor told me about how he has been in politics so far," said Elva.

According to Elva, they also discussed other things in the meeting. "Many things, about political movements," said the member of the Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council or DPRD.

In addition, Elva said that Kaesang and PSI also wished Pramono a happy birthday. The Jakarta Governor just celebrated his 62nd birthday on June 11, 2025.

Pramono is a politician with a different party background than Kaesang. Pramono is a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle or PDIP which was once the shelter of Kaesang's father, Jokowi. Pramono had been the cabinet secretary when Jokowi served as president in 2014-2024.
