The political direction of Joko Widodo alias Jokowi after he is no longer President of the Republic of Indonesia and was fired by the PDI Perjuangan is still unclear. According to the Director of Parameter Politik Indonesia, Adi Prayitno, there is no certainty whether Jokowi will really join the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) or choose another path outside of existing political parties. "Jokowi will not necessarily join PSI. Maybe his last option is an individual party, meaning not joining any party, either PSI or PPP," said Adi via his YouTube channel, Sunday, June 8, 2025. Adi added that even though he is not the general chairman of the party, Jokowi already has a big influence on the national political map. He is even called the political mecca for most volunteer groups and political actors. However, if Jokowi really chooses not to join any political party and only relies on personal strength, according to Adi, it could cause its own problems. The current Indonesian political system still places parties as the main axis of nominations in legislative elections, regional heads, and vice presidential candidates. "If Jokowi chooses, for example, to become an individual party, it will be a rather serious problem because political influence in the future must involve political parties," said Adi Therefore, it is not surprising that a number of parties such as Projo volunteers and other support groups are pushing for Jokowi to establish a new party as a political vehicle. "Projo and other volunteers hope that Jokowi will establish a new political party, of course as an effort so that the political orchestration in the future will continue to be significantly played by Jokowi," concluded Adi.
