Megawati Acknowledges That PDIP Suffered A Severe Defeat In The Banteng Arena During The 2024 Election: Unbelievable!

Thursday, 15 May 2025

The Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, acknowledged that her party faced significant challenges in the 2024 elections. The Fifth President of Indonesia attributed the primary reason for PDIP's defeat to divisions within the electoral bases that were expected to contribute the most votes. 'However, if your efforts are lackluster, victory will elude you. The evidence is clear; areas where we should have excelled were fragmented,' she stated during a speech at the Trisakti Tourism Award in Jakarta on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

In light of the impending defeat, Megawati expressed her continuous prayers for divine guidance, emphasizing that her party's mission is to serve the nation rather than merely seeking power and wealth. She credited the support of the people for helping PDIP maintain its status as the leading party, despite the setbacks in the elections. Consequently, she noted that PDIP still achieved victories at the district and city levels, attributing this resilience to the people's support rather than solely to party members. 'As long as the people love PDIP, we can move forward united,' she remarked. 'The provinces that were hit hard, I observed, were held back. Look at the results,' she added.

So, what was PDIP's vote acquisition in their stronghold during the 2024 elections? In the previous 2019 elections, PDIP emerged victorious, garnering 27,053,961 votes in the legislative elections, which accounted for 19.33 percent of the national vote. In the 2024 elections, PDIP once again triumphed in the political arena, securing a total of 25,384,673 valid votes, although this represented a decline to 16.73 percent.
