Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has indicated the potential for collaboration between the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara Indonesia and the New Development Bank (NDB), a multilateral development bank established by BRICS nations. This statement was made by Minister Sri Mulyani following President Prabowo Subianto's announcement regarding the Indonesian government's decision to join the development bank at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 25. "How can the NDB contribute to Indonesia's economy and development? We also have Danantara, which could lead to collaboration and other opportunities," stated Sri Mulyani during her visit to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday. She elaborated that the government had previously engaged in extensive discussions regarding various technical aspects, including the requirements for Indonesia's membership in the NDB. The decision to join the NDB came after President Dilma Vana Rousseff invited Indonesia to become a member, especially as Indonesia is set to officially join BRICS as a full member in early 2025. BRICS is an alliance of emerging economies comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Indonesia is the latest member to join, following other countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, and Egypt. The Finance Minister noted that President Dilma is keen to attract Indonesia as a member, with the potential for development cooperation in the country. On the other hand, BRICS members' policies also include reducing the use of the US dollar in trade and cooperation. In response to this, Sri Mulyani mentioned that she would review the situation first. "I will take a look at it and discuss it later," said the Minister.
