The Candidate For Regional Head, Who Is Currently Involved In A Legal Case At The Constitutional Court, Was Not Invited To The Retreat With Prabowo

Wednesday, 12 Feb 2025

The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya, has confirmed that candidates for regional leadership positions who are currently involved in disputes regarding the results of the 2024 local elections at the Constitutional Court (MK) will not participate in the retreat at the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang, Central Java, scheduled for February 21.

Bima emphasized that the retreat will be attended by regional leaders whose election result disputes have been dismissed or not accepted by the MK, and who have been inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on February 20. "The participants of the retreat are those without ongoing disputes at the MK and those whose cases have been dismissed. Therefore, the total number is 505 (regional leaders)," Bima stated during a meeting at the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, also known as Gedung Agung, on Sunday, February 9.

Regarding candidates still engaged in election result disputes, he mentioned that their briefing by President Prabowo will await the MK's decision. "Those whose cases are not proceeding at the MK number 505. The remaining candidates will receive their briefings in accordance with the MK's ruling, which may vary depending on the individual cases," he explained.

Bima further noted that the 505 regional leaders participating in the retreat, which includes governors, regents, and mayors, are scheduled to receive training at Akmil from February 21 to 28, 2025. They will be provided with materials on government budget efficiency, the primary duties and functions of regional leaders, mission objectives, and training from the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas).

He remarked that the retreat for regional leaders is deemed significant by the government to align the perspectives of local and central governments, similar to the training provided to ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at Akmil last year. "Rather than incurring additional expenses for other venues, it is more effective and efficient to hold it at Akmil, as the tents can utilize those already prepared and previously used by ministers there," he stated.
