The Plenary Meeting of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia has approved the Draft Law on the Third Amendment to Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN Bill) to be enacted as law. "We request the approval of the factions regarding the Draft Law on the Third Amendment to Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning State-Owned Enterprises. Can it be approved as law?" inquired Deputy Chairman of the House, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, while leading the meeting. This question was met with unanimous agreement from the members of the House present at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday. Subsequently, Dasco sought confirmation once more from the attending members of the House during the plenary session, which was again met with unanimous consent. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Commission VI of the House, Anggia Ermarini, explained that the BUMN Bill is essential for enabling state-owned enterprises to contribute effectively to government programs, such as food and energy security, downstreaming, and other national strategic initiatives. Furthermore, she noted that the Law on State-Owned Enterprises has not been updated for a considerable time. She elaborated that several regulations are included in the Bill, such as the business judgment rule and the management of state-owned enterprise assets. "The adjustment of the definition of state-owned enterprises is intended to ensure that they can perform their duties optimally and in accordance with relevant legal provisions. Additionally, the establishment of the Investment Management Agency of Daya Anagata Nusantara aims to enhance the governance of state-owned enterprises," she added. Previously, on Saturday (February 1), Commission VI of the House had agreed that the BUMN Bill could be approved as law during the Plenary Meeting of the House.
