PT Dharma Polimetal Tbk (DRMA), a leading automotive component manufacturer in Indonesia, is expanding its business portfolio by developing a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). "As we start 2025, we are preparing several strategies to boost sales growth. One of these is to diversify our business portfolio. This new addition aims to ensure the development and growth of our company remains strong and sustainable," said Irianto Santoso, President Director of Dharma Polimetal. The BESS, as a new business portfolio, has been developed at a new factory owned by the company's subsidiary, PT Dharma Controlcable Indonesia (DCI). BESS is an energy storage battery typically used to store energy from solar panels. This product expands the company's portfolio beyond the automotive sector. In this new business development, the company successfully supplied 600 units of BESS to a housing developer for installation with solar panels in each house built. The installation of this equipment will provide a self-sufficient renewable energy source for electricity needs in every home. Additionally, the integration of solar panels and BESS can be developed as an alternative energy source for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKL). This concept has been tested by PT DCI, producing 27.5 kWp from solar panels with a storage capacity of 50 kWh from BESS, capable of supplying a charging power of 30 kW. "Amid the current challenging industrial situation, business diversification is DRMA's choice to create a new revenue-generating engine. With this new source of income, we hope this year's performance will be better than before," Irianto added. The electricity industry in Indonesia is showing significant growth, supported by favorable government policies. Indonesia has established electricity export agreements with neighboring countries, marking progress in this sector. Additionally, during COP 29 (UN Climate Conference), Indonesia announced its commitment to produce 75 gigawatts of renewable energy over the next 15 years. One strategy to achieve this goal is to use solar panels as a power source. Since Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are crucial for solar panel systems, the market potential for BESS looks very promising. To support this diversification strategy, DRMA has developed a comprehensive collaborative ecosystem called Dharma Connect (DC). DC includes five segments: DC Battery (battery pack, battery energy storage system, and Auxiliary Battery), DC Power (slow and fast charging stations), DC Motor (BLDC Hub and Mid Drive Motor), DC Solar, and DC Cross (2W and 4W EV Conversion). As of September 30, 2024, DRMA reported sales of Rp4 trillion. Despite facing challenges in the industry landscape in 2024, the company achieved a 20% sales growth in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter. Additionally, operating profit was recorded at Rp548 billion, and net profit attributable to the parent company was Rp412 billion as of September 30, 2024.
