Visiting Japan in Autumn According to Benny, each season in Japan has its own appeal. Particularly, spring is renowned for its cherry blossom scenery. However, to experience something different yet equally captivating, tourists are encouraged to visit Japan during the autumn season.

"If you plan to go to Japan soon, choose autumn," Benny stated when he met with Kompas.com at the Permata Bank X Japan Airlines Travel Fair in July 2025 at Lippo Mall Puri, West Jakarta, on Thursday (17/7/2025). He further explained that autumn in Japan is considered a low season, making travel costs, including flight expenses to Japan, more affordable compared to other seasons.

According to Benny, flight prices to Japan are typically high towards the end of the year, particularly during the Christmas holiday, starting from November through December. "Autumn should not lead into winter; otherwise, it becomes fall. In fact, autumn is truly fall, meaning before the leaves change color, the trees will already be rising," Benny stated. He recommends visiting Japan from late October to November. One of the places he suggests to visit is Tohoku.

Additionally, according to Japan Guide, Tohoku is renowned for its rural landscapes, mountains, lakes, and hot springs. The Tohoku region comprises six prefectures, including Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Yamagata, Miyagi, and Fukushima. Aomori is famous for its beautiful castle, making it one of the best locations to enjoy cherry blossoms every spring.

Akita is renowned for its stunning mountainous landscapes and coastal beauty, as well as its hot springs. The city of Kakunodate in Akita is particularly noted for preserving one of Japan's most fascinating samurai districts. Iwate is famous for its beaches, while Yamagata is recognized for its agricultural produce, rural charm, natural beauty, and hot springs. Miyagi boasts one of Japan's three most beautiful views. Meanwhile, in Fukushima, visitors can experience abundant natural beauty, including historical sites, locations adorned with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn foliage, as well as ski resorts.
