The Riau Islands Province (Kepri) is vigorously pursuing an ambitious target of attracting 1.7 million international tourists (wisman) by the end of 2025. To achieve this, the Tourism Office (Dispar) of Kepri has prepared 15 premier tourism events that will be held gradually until December 2025, serving as a new attraction for both foreign and domestic tourists. The Head of Dispar Kepri, Hasan, revealed that as of May 2025, the number of wisman visits had reached 711,000, and efforts will continue to be intensified through a series of events across various districts and cities.

This initiative is being carried out collaboratively across sectors, involving local government, tourism industry players, state-owned enterprises, and local communities. "We are optimistic that the synergy among all stakeholders in organizing these various events will boost wisman visits by the end of 2025," Hasan stated on Saturday (July 5) in Tanjungpinang.

A series of exciting events from Batam to Natuna. Some of the highlighted events scheduled to take place soon include: Kepri Creative Explore (July 14–16, 2025, Batam): An international photography event featuring 70 photographers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam, aimed at exploring Batam's tourist attractions through the lens of a camera.

The Batam Marathon 10K (July 13, 2025) and the MURI Record-Breaking Event for the Most Bedas Fish Cooked, involving 3,000 participants, enhance the appeal of culinary tourism and sports. Bintan Trekking (August 23–24, 2025), Bintan Triathlon (October 4–5, 2025), and Mandiri Bintan Marathon (November 8–9, 2025) target sport tourism from both domestic and international visitors, with a goal of 5,000 participants.

Dekrafest Kepri (July 27, 2025), Dragon Boat Race, Kopi Merdeka Fest, Kuliner Merdeka, and Kepri Marine Fishing 2025 are also set to enliven Tanjungpinang, although some schedules are still being finalized. The International Maritime Cultural Charm of Kepri (October 18–31, 2025) will showcase the richness of local culture and marine life. Two equally captivating year-end events are Sail to Indonesia (July–October 2025) and the Geopark Natuna Marathon 2025, which are currently awaiting confirmation of their schedules. Hasan added that all these events are designed not only to attract new visitors but also to maintain the interest of tourists, encouraging them to return and enjoy their stay in Kepri. The combination of arts, culture, cuisine, natural beauty, and sports is believed to provide a comprehensive experience for tourists.

In addition to foreign tourists, Kepri aims to attract 3.5 million domestic tourist visits (wisnus) by the year 2025. Currently, the number of wisnus visits has reached 1.7 million. "Achieving the tourist visit target for 2025 requires collective effort from all parties. Therefore, all events must be organized and executed with a proportional and measurable cooperation strategy," emphasized Hasan.
