The disputed Pulau Tujuh, located between the Bangka Belitung Islands and the Riau Islands, is indeed a site of remarkable beauty. It is important to note that Pulau Tujuh is not a single island, but rather a cluster of islands. This cluster includes Pulau Pekajang, Tukong Yu, Pasir Keliling, Penyaman, Lalang, Kembung, and Jambat. The allure of Pulau Tujuh has captivated Fazul Jihan Akhbar (25), a resident of Bangka Barat in the Bangka Belitung Islands, prompting him to visit. Fazul recounted that he, along with 32 companions, explored Pulau Tujuh for three days and two nights at the end of May. "I chose to visit Pulau Tujuh out of curiosity about the local residents' way of life, intrigued by its branding as a mini Raja Ampat, and eager to experience the snorkeling spots," Fazul shared with KompasTravel on Monday evening (June 23, 2025). Fazul learned that the nickname "Mini Raja Ampat" was given to Jambat Island by his friends. On Jambat Island, tourists can climb the hill to view the cluster of Seven Islands, featuring a stunning vista of blue seas and surrounding islands. "I got the information from a friend who said, 'Let's go to Seven Islands; the island is beautiful, resembling Raja Ampat but in a smaller version,' while showing pictures of the islands, including those taken from the cliff top," said Fazul. He and his companions departed from Teluk Limau Village in West Bangka to cross over to Pekajang Island. He also visited Pasir Keliling Island, Lalang Island, and Pekajang Island. There, Fazul and his companions explored Pekajang Island. They interacted with the local residents by playing soccer and strumming guitars while singing together. Fazul and his friends also had the opportunity to paddle in the waters of Seven Islands. Fazul intentionally rented a paddle that he had brought from Bangka Island before crossing over to Seven Islands. There, they also enjoyed the expanse of sand and the blue sea while watching the sunset. At night on Keliling Island, where they stayed, Fazul could also observe turtles laying their eggs. "After visiting Jambat Island, which is branded as Raja Ampat, I was amazed. In Bangka, it is rare to find islands with cliffs that you can climb. The view of the small islands close to each other is also beautiful, resembling Raja Ampat," Fazul stated. According to him, the waters around Tujuh Island appeared clear. Furthermore, the well-preserved ecosystem allows many fish to thrive. "Overall, the experience at Tujuh Island was fantastic. The beauty of the island was evident, and the local residents were incredibly friendly," Fazul remarked.
