Emir Moeis, the General Chairman of the Marhaen Youth Movement (GPM), is urging GPM cadres to be vigilant and ignite the spirit of Marhaenism in national life. He emphasizes the importance of instilling the values of Marhaenism ideology to the youth, especially Generation Z, so that these values are not lost and continue to the next generation. Marhaenism is a concept introduced by Soekarno. It refers to all the lower-class people, including farmers and laborers, who are oppressed by the wealthy and rulers, namely the bourgeoisie or capitalists. Marhaenism aims to liberate the lower class from oppression and fight for social justice for them. During the 77th Anniversary of the Marhaen Youth Movement (GPM) held on June 1 at the Gerakan Bhineka Nasionalis (GBN) Building in Jakarta, Emir Moeis stated that the ideology of Marhaenism is still relevant today due to ongoing social inequalities and the resurgence of oligarchy. Emir emphasizes that the goal of achieving a just and prosperous society is still a long journey. Therefore, the teachings and struggles of Marhaenism are still very relevant in addressing current issues. "It is crucial to reignite the spirit of Marhaenism, love for the homeland, and uphold the values of Pancasila as a guide in our national life, especially for the younger generation. I believe there are still many violations, especially in terms of democracy and social justice. Pancasila must be the compass to correct these deviations," expressed Emir Moeis, a Senior Politician of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. Emir Moeis understands the current situation where most young generations in Indonesia only know who Soekarno is physically, not his teachings. Therefore, to understand the ideology of Marhaenism, he believes that the younger generation is not the same as the previous generation that can be correlated with his socio-nationalism and socio-democracy, but it is time to emphasize that Marhaenism is about anti-poverty, anti-exploitation, and anti-capitalism. Now, disappointment towards oligarchy is starting to emerge, this could be a momentum for us, the Marhaenist youth, that it is no longer needed. But on the other hand, Marhaenist youth must remain cautious and vigilant against certain issues, such as games or changes in laws through the Constitutional Court, where these interests are not for national development but rather lead to nepotism interests. Because if we continue to let it happen, it will become dangerous and not in line with the values of Pancasila. As Marhaenist youth, we must be able to comment critically and fight together according to our dynamic and revolutionary spirit," added Emir Moeis. Present at the celebration of GPM's anniversary were several figures, starting from the chairman of the GPM DPP Emir Moeis and the officials of the GPM DPP. Also present were the Advisory Board of GPM, William M. Tutuarima, and the former Mayor of Bekasi, Mochtar Mohamad.
