Interior Minister Tito Karnavian stated that the government has agreed to the four additional articles proposed by the House of Representatives.

Tito elaborated that these additional provisions are essential to ensure legal certainty regarding Jakarta's status in the future, as it will no longer serve as the capital.

"The essence is that the government views the inclusion of the articles proposed by the House of Representatives as necessary to provide legal certainty for the transition of government administration in Jakarta moving forward," Tito remarked during a working meeting with the Legislative Body at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday, November 18.

He emphasized that these adjustments are crucial for the Jakarta Provincial Government to be prepared for the changes in the political and economic landscape following its transition from being the capital.

The government has expressed its agreement to expedite the discussions surrounding this bill so that it can be finalized and enacted into law.

"We also hope that the government can facilitate this process, as there are not many articles under discussion, allowing for a swift resolution to ensure certainty," he stated.

On another note, Tito elaborated that the government has identified 34 Issues Inventory List (DIM) related to the Draft Law on the Capital City (DKJ) currently under discussion in the House of Representatives.

However, Tito indicated that out of the 34 DIM, only one requires further discussion between the House and the government.

"After consultations with the relevant ministries and internal government discussions, there are 33 DIM that have been agreed upon to adhere to the draft proposals from the House," he noted. "Meanwhile, one DIM has undergone substantive changes, which remains open for discussion," he added.

Previously, four articles were added to the DKJ bill. These articles primarily address the change of nomenclature from DKI Jakarta to DKJ for members of the House of Representatives, Regional House of Representatives, and Regional Representative Council elected and inaugurated as a result of the 2024 elections.

Another article will modify the nomenclature for the governor and deputy governor of Jakarta elected in the simultaneous regional elections on November 27, 2024.

The DKJ bill has been established as a legislative initiative proposed by the House.
