Budi Is Back As The Health Minister And Shared Three Special Messages From President Prabowo

Budi Gunadi Sadikin has been reappointed as the Minister of Health in the Merah Putih Cabinet for the 2024-2029 term on Monday (October 21). Minister Budi shared that President Prabowo Subianto has given him three specific tasks to lead the health sector.

The first task is to implement a health screening program for the entire population. According to the Minister, this initiative aims to keep people healthy rather than just treating those who are already sick.

“The first thing that needs to be sorted out in November is the launch of a national screening for all life stages,” the Minister stated in Jakarta on Monday (October 21).

For the second task, President Prabowo has asked Minister Budi to expedite the construction of hospitals in remote and underdeveloped areas. “The second task is to build hospitals in these underserved regions, and that needs to be completed,” he revealed.

The third task involves addressing tuberculosis (TB) issues. The Minister noted that President Prabowo is particularly focused on this disease due to its high prevalence.

“For the TB program, we’re going to create a solid plan. We’ll launch it in December,” he added.

In addition to these three main tasks, the Minister mentioned that he has also been assigned to tackle the shortage of specialist doctors in Indonesia.

Budi Gunadi Sadikin's name was announced as the Minister of Health at the Presidential Palace on Sunday night (October 20). To support him, President Prabowo appointed Prof. Dante Saksono Harbuwono as the Deputy Minister of Health on the same day.

Prof. Dante has been working alongside the Minister since 2020. With this appointment, Minister Budi and Deputy Minister Dante will continue their service into a second term.

Previously, Budi Gunadi Sadikin was appointed as Minister of Health in December 2020, taking over from Terawan Agus Putranto. At that time, he was given the special task of managing the COVID-19 pandemic and implementing health reforms.

Menkes Budi expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for trusting him and Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono to lead Indonesia's health sector once again.
