The Royal Thai Embassy in Indonesia has commended the services provided by the Class II B Women's Correctional Facility in Yogyakarta regarding the fulfillment of the rights of two of its citizens currently serving their sentences there. "We have observed that the Women's Correctional Facility in Yogyakarta offers excellent services to our two nationals," stated Juthamas Chantabunlert, the head of the embassy's team, in an official statement in Yogyakarta on Friday.

Juthamas, along with a delegation from the Thai Embassy, previously visited the Women's Class II B Penitentiary in Yogyakarta, located in Gunungkidul Regency, on Thursday (September 5) to assess the health conditions of two Thai nationals currently serving their sentences, namely Sukanya Saardchit and Janya Puengkaew.

Both individuals are serving a 13-year prison term due to their involvement in a drug-related case, and according to the latest calculations, they are expected to be released in 2030.

Juthamas expressed that the facilities available at the penitentiary are quite adequate, and the health of the inmates is being well maintained.

The Thai Embassy team extended special appreciation for the attention given by the penitentiary staff to Sukanya Saardchit, who has a history of health issues.

"We are very grateful for the care provided by the penitentiary regarding Sukanya's health condition. We hope that with improved health facilities, Sukanya's health can continue to improve," stated Juthamas.

The Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Agung Rektono Seto, stated that the agency is committed to providing the best services to all inmates without discrimination.

"Whether they are Indonesian citizens or foreigners, everyone has the same rights to humane treatment in accordance with applicable regulations," Agung remarked.

Currently, there are 10 foreign national inmates in the Yogyakarta region. Among them, eight are serving their sentences at the Class II B Women's Prison in Yogyakarta, while the remaining two are at the Class II A Detention Center in Yogyakarta.

Agung noted that all foreign national inmates also have the opportunity to participate in rehabilitation programs, including social integration initiatives for those who are nearing release.

"We hope that through these rehabilitation programs, inmates can improve themselves and reintegrate into society as better individuals," Agung added.
