PT Jakarta Infrastruktur Propertindo (JIP) is teaming up with the Dinas Bina Marga Daerah Khusus Jakarta to cut down overhead cables as part of the Sarana Jaringan Utilitas Terpadu (SJUT) program. This time, the permanent cable removal took place on Cikajang Street in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Thursday (01/08/2024). Ivan C. Permana, the Acting President Director of PT JIP, mentioned that during this operation, the Dinas Bina Marga successfully removed 20 optical cables from the left side of the road and 21 from the right. "As the company assigned to manage SJUT in South and East Jakarta, JIP is fully backing the Dinas Bina Marga's efforts to permanently remove overhead cables at various locations in Jakarta. This is all part of speeding up the SJUT program, which aims to relocate utility cables underground," Ivan stated. As of August 1, 2024, PT JIP and Dinas Bina Marga have organized a total of 13,774 meters of fiber optic cables, hitting 40% of their goal of 24,738 meters across 10 road sections. The cleanup of overhead cables on these roads is ongoing and is expected to wrap up by the end of 2024. Ivan also explained that the SJUT project will be rolled out in phases until 2025, covering a total length of 84.5 kilometers—54.5 kilometers in South Jakarta and 30 kilometers in East Jakarta. So far, PT JIP has successfully constructed 25 kilometers of SJUT across 10 road sections in South Jakarta. "We hope that placing utility networks underground will lead to a more organized, aesthetic, modern, and safe urban layout, while also supporting Jakarta's digital transformation into a smart city," he added. The Head of the Jakarta Bina Marga Department, Heru Suwondo, stated, "We highly appreciate the collaboration with PT JIP in accelerating the SJUT program. The underground placement of utility networks and removal of overhead cables are crucial steps to enhance the city's infrastructure quality. Not only does it provide a neater and more aesthetic city appearance, but it also minimizes the risk of fire due to overhead cables and supports Jakarta's transformation into a smart city. We will continue to strive to achieve this target on time for the comfort and safety of Jakarta residents."
