Prabowo: Indonesia-Europe Cooperation Crucial For Global Economic And Geopolitical Stability

President Prabowo Subianto called cooperation between Indonesia and Europe crucial for global economic and geopolitical stability. He said Indonesia and the European Union had reached an agreement on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement. 

"So, this is a great honor that you have bestowed upon me, as well as a great sacrifice. However, I think this also shows how important the relationship between Indonesia and the European Union is," Prabowo said in a press release on the Presidential Secretary's YouTube channel, Sunday (July 13, 2025). 

"I want to convey that today we have achieved a breakthrough. After ten years of negotiations, we have reached an agreement to have a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which is essentially a free trade agreement," he continued. 

Prabowo revealed that Indonesia and Europe have reached many cooperation agreements. According to him, this close cooperation has had a significant impact on the global economy and geopolitics. 

"We have reached many agreements, which essentially accommodate each other's economic interests, and we feel that they are symbiotic. Europe is a leader in science, technology, and finance. We have crucial resources. So, the partnership between Europe and Indonesia, and Indonesia is also a large part of ASEAN, I think this will be a very, very, very important contribution to global economic and geopolitical stability," he said. 

Prabowo said that Europe is an important partner for Indonesia, especially in Southeast Asia. Prabowo expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation established amidst the current global instability, which can serve as an example for other countries. 

"We consider Europe very important to us. That's why we want to see more European presence and participation in our economy, and I'm very pleased to see our respective ministers and commissioners achieve, so to speak, a strategic breakthrough, so that there are essentially no more disagreements between the European Union and Indonesia. That's great," Prabowo said. 

"That's basically the conclusion we have today. So I'm very pleased. I think in this era of instability and confusion, I think we're setting the right example," he continued.
